Mission

JPG’s primary mission was to plan, conduct, and report on ballistic acceptance production engineering surveillance and other tests of ammunition for the U.S. Army.

Its functions were to:

• Coordinate, plan, conduct, and report ammunition testing activities.
• Receive, store, and issue assigned industrial stocks of ammunition and calibrated ammunition components.
• Plan, direct, and control a research and development program for test instrumentation, test facilities, and test methodology.
• Support field research, studies, tests, and operations of the U.S. Army.

In addition, the Indiana Air National Guard used approximately 1,033 acres of the installation as an air-to-ground impact area for operational training requirements.
