FOSLs

A Finding of Suitability to Lease (FOSL) is used when property is being leased. The FOSL includes provisions to allow for cleanup of the property and protects the party leasing the property. There may be some restrictions associated with a FOSL, such as restrictions on using groundwater or residential property until cleanup is achieved.

Cantonment Area Parcel - As a result of a bid on the property in December 1995, approximately 3,400 acres is being leased in furtherance of conveyance to Ford Lumber and Building Supply Company. The title to portions of the property will be transferred as the areas are cleaned up. The parcel contains approximately 300 buildings of permanent and semi-permanent construction. The future owner has leased a number of the buildings for residential and light industrial use and is farming about 800 acres. The FOSL was signed May 1, 1996 and the lease was signed on May 13, 1996.
